Bluefield, Va. – The Columbia College men's soccer team fell to Bluefield University, 2-0, in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) road contest, Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Bluefield, Va.
The contest was the second straight conference loss for the Koalas, who falls to 0-3-1 overall, and 0-2-0 in the AAC. Bluefield improves to 3-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the AAC.
Trey McCathern had three shots, with one shot on goal for the Koalas.
Devin Calloway led the way for the Rams with two shots and a goal. Drake Cullens scored the Rams' other goal.
The teams played an even match head-to-head, each finishing with six shots. The difference at the net came in the first half, as Bluefield scored both its goals in the stanza. The Rams also outshot the Koalas 4-2.
Both defenses were solid in the second half as neither team could find the back of the net. The Koalas offense was also stronger, outshooting the Rams 4-2 to even the shot count for the game. Columbia College had three more corner kicks than Bluefield in the contest, 7-4.
The Koalas will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they host Montreat in a 7 pm AAC contest in Younts Stadium.
