Bears Score Late First Half Goal to Earn Victory Over Koalas

PIKEVILLE, KY- In a game that featured seven yellow cards, a late first-half goal from the Bears proved enough for the hosts to hold off the Koalas, earning their first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victory.

THE BASICS:

Pikeville now has an overall record of 4-4-1 and 1-2-1 in AAC play. Meanwhile, the Koalas slip to 4-6 overall and 1-5 inside the AAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The two sides seemed destined to head into the half in a scoreless tie, but just before the half (42:31), Pikeville's Tomas Cristancho received a pass from Coby Fields that would ultimately lead to the game-winner.

The Koalas outshot Pikeville, 17-10, but the Bears goalie, Adam Di Millo, turned away all six shots on frame. Brayden Garcia made four saves on five shots on goal, another solid outing from the freshman keeper.

UP NEXT:

The Koalas will return home on Friday to host Tennessee Wesleyan at 6:00 PM.
