Koalas Handle Rams in Home Finale, 1-0

COLUMBIA, SC- In the penultimate game of the 2023-24 season for the Columbia College Men's Soccer team, the Koalas escaped with victory over the Bluefield Rams, 1-0.

The win gives the Koalas a 6-11 record overall and a 3-10 mark in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) with one game left to play in non-conference action.

The game-winner came early when Ethan Poungthana fired a shot that was turned away; the deflection stayed in the box long enough for Austin Clark to collect it and fire it home in the lower left corner in the 7th minute.

From there, the Koalas played strong defense and battled through some chippiness to hold on for the win. The match featured four yellow cards and red, along with 21 fouls.

The Koalas will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Trinity Baptist College for a 4 p.m. start.
