Men's Tennis Knocks off Truett McConnell

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis team knocked off conference foe Truett McConnell University 5-2 last month for their first conference win of the season from the Koala Tennis Courts.

The Koalas first earned the doubles point as their top two teams won 6-0, 6-3. Jonah Haller and Liam Barry won 6-0 at the top spot while Tiaan Jacobs and Owen Brumfield continued the winning ways going on to win 6-3 at the 2 spot. Columbia's third dobles team of Michael Schiesz and Ethan Poungthana also fell just short going down 6-4.

Then, Columbia's top three players clinched the win for the Koalas as Barry, Haller, and Jacobs all won their top three matches to put CC up 4-0. Barry won 6-0, 6-2 at the top spot while Haller won 6-3, 6-0 at the second line before Jacobs shutout his foe 6-0, 6-0 at the third line.

Brumfield also added a win at the 5th spot, 6-2, 6-4. Earlier that week, Columbia fell 7-0 to Union College as well with Haller and Barry dropping a close doubles match 6-4 at the top line. Haller also fell 6-1, 6-3 in the tightest singles battle of the day.
