Bosch's Win not Enough to Carry Men's Tennis against Montreat

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis team fell 6-1 at home Tuesday afternoon in a competitive men's tennis matchup to conference rival Montreat College.

The Koalas fought hard across both doubles and singles but couldn't overcome the visiting Cavalier's depth and consistency. CC dropped all three doubles matches via scores of 0-6, 3-6 and 2-6 as junior Waldo Bosch and freshman Gabriel Kian put up the best effort before going down 6-3.

Columbia was unable to change the tide in singles even as Ozzy Bosch gave CC a great showing, defeating his top foe 6-1, 6-4 in a very intense match to claim the team's only point in front of a raucous home crowd.

Also competing hard in singles was senior Liam Barry at the 2 spot going down 0-6, 3-6, while Kian lost at the #3 position, 2-6, 1-6. Sophomore Tiaan Jacobs, junior Owen Brumfield and freshman Thomas Remely suffered defeats as well at the 4,5, and 6 spots.

The Koalas, who fell to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in conference, fought hard against a formidable Montreat team (2-3 AAC, 2-9 overall), demonstrating courage and commitment despite the eventual result.

The Koala men next go on the road against Milligan Univ. in Tennessee this Saturday at 1 PM.
