Men's Tennis Falls to #1 TWU in AAC Quarterfinals

CHATTANOOGA, TN- The No. 8 seeded Columbia College men's tennis team fell by a score of 4-0 to the top seed, No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan, in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 AAC Men's Tennis conference Championship Tournament on Thursday at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Tournament play is a first-to-clinch format, meaning the first team to score four points wins the match. The Bulldogs won the doubles point via scores of 6-0 and 6-0 over the teams of Barry and Haller at the #1 doubles spot and the team of T. Jacobs and Michael Schiesz at the #3 spot. The #2 team of junior Waldo Ozzy Bosch and freshman Gabriel Kian were also trailing 5-2 when the doubles point was clinched.

TWU then won three singles matches at the 2 spot over senior Liam Barry, the #4 spot over sophomore Tiaan Jacobs, and the #5 spot over junior Owen Brumfield to clinch the victory. Sophomore Jonah Haller put up a good effort but was trailing 2-6, 1-3 when his #3 individual match was stopped due to the dual match being clinched. Kian's match had not yet started while Bosch was trailing 1-6, 0-5 at the top spot to the Player of the Year in the conference, Octavio Volpi.
