Men's Cross Country Takes 1st and 2nd at Mini Half-Marathon

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Columbia College men's cross country team ran a terrific race on Sunday morning as their top two individuals finished 1st and 2nd in the 13 mile Mini Marathon in Myrtle Beach while another won first place inthe 5K.

Senjior Patrick Timmerman led the men in the half marathon as he broke a school record in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 33 seconds while senior teammate Dorde Racic finished 2nd in 1:17:46. Junior Kristian Sanchez then placed 1st in the Coastal 5K in a time of 17 minutes and 2 seconds to beat the runner-up by almost a full minute.

Timmerman and Racic ran a pace of 5:50 per mile while Sanchez had a pace of 5:29. 

This is the second straight year that the Koalas competed in the half marathon. The team will now have a week off until competing in the Bob Jones University 8K Invite on Oct. 26 in Greenville, SC.
