Koalas Settle for Split at Montreat

MONTREAT, NC- Columbia Softball hit the road for the first time in over a week, traveling to Montreat, where they settled for a split with the Cavaliers. 

The Koalas took game one, 1-0, before falling in the nightcap by the same score. Columbia sits at 13-15 overall on the season and 4-10 within conference play after Saturday's action. 

The host Cavaliers collected their seventh win of the season and third in conference play. 

Meghan Dennis collected the game-one win, improving her record to 5-5. She struck out four batters, allowed only five hits, and gave up no walks in the complete game shutout victory. 

Leadoff hitter Mary-Catherine Sanders collected the Koala's only RBI of the day in game one. The lefty brought Kiley Bridgmon around with a single to left field. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Dennis holds a team-high 29 strikeouts after collecting four more today.
  • Sanders collected her seventh RBI of the season today; recent NAIA National Player of the Week Madison Lee leads the Koalas with 18 RBIs. 
  • Six Koalas that see regular time in the lineup are batting over .300; Sanders leads the way with a .416 avg and 32 hits.
