Koala Softball Drops Series on road at Reinhardt

WALESKA, GA - The Columbia College softball team dropped their AAC road doubleheader at conference powerhouse, Reinhardt University by identical 8-0 scores on Saturday in Georgia.

The Lady Koalas could not get their offense on track at RU recording just two hits in game one and one hit in game two as the Eagle pitching stonewalled CC all day long.

In the first game, Reinhardt led just 2-0 after four innings. However, they finally got to Koala senior starter and Pitcher of the Week, Addison Warner in the 5th inning with another homer and an RBI double to get out to a 4-0 lead. Columbia then brought in senior reliever Kynsly Gehling to try and slow the momentum but they would go on to score four runs off her to clinch the 8-0 win. They scored off three RBI hits and an error.

Warner still had a decent game allowing four runs on three hits while walking three and striking out six over 4 and 1/3 innings while Gehling permitted four runs on four hits in the 5th. Recording base hits for the Koalas were outfielders Madison Cheek and Brooke Farrell.

During game two, a pair of Reinhardt pitchers limited the Koalas to just one base hit over 5 innings as senior 1B Aliyah Crawley knocked the lone single. Junior pitcher Ally Boyd allowed five runs and four earned on four hits over two innings while walking two and allowing a pair of RU homers in the 3rd inning that knocked her out of the game. Reinhardt then added three more in the third inning off junior reliever Amanda Lohrey.

Senior reliever Bailey Strickland, who stole a base as a pinch runner in the first game came on to make her season debut in the circle in game two and shut down the Eagles over 1 and 2/3 innings allowing just two hits while striking out two.

Columbia falls to 16-24 overall and 10-12 in the conference while Reinhardt improves to 22-8 overall and 19-5 in the league.

The Koalas finally return home to host rival CIU on Tuesday in a 4 pm doubleheader.
