Fourth Quarter Offensive Outburst Propels Koalas to Victory, 69-67

GAINESVILLE, GA- After trailing for most of the first three quarters, the Koala Women's Basketball team collected its second win in as many games thanks to a 27-point fourth quarter. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After the first ten minutes of action, the Golden Tigers jumped out to an early three-point lead (14-11) and built from there to go ahead 33-27 at the half.

  • The third quarter was tight, as Columbia pulled themselves within seven points heading into the final frame.

  • The fourth was all Columbia, as the Koala's offensive outburst propelled them to victory, outscoring the hosts 27-18 over the final stretch.

 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Carnasia Wells led all starters with 10 points in 22 minutes, while the bench saw two Koalas hit double-digits. 

  • Tysonia Lowe netted 16 points in 16 minutes of action off the bench, converting on all eight free throw attempts. Anaya Muhammad joined her in double figures off the bench with 14 points, shooting 3-5 from behind the three-point arc. 

  • As a team, the Koalas converted 24 of 27 free throws, an 88.9 percent clip.

The Koalas will hit the road on Saturday for an early-season Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup when they take on Tennessee Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
