Koalas Tripped Up by Cavaliers, 72-61

MONTREAT, NC- Columbia Women's Basketball hit the road on Wednesday night for more Appalachian Athletic Conference action (AAC), traveling north to face the Montreat Cavaliers. 

The Koala's shooting woes continued as the Cavaliers jumped out to an early 22-14 lead and never looked back en route to a 72-61 victory.


THE BASICS:

  • The Cavaliers now own an 11-7 record overall and improve to 8-4 in AAC play.

  • The Koalas slip to an even 9-9 on the season and fall below .500 in conference at 6-7.

THE BOX SCORE:

  • Columbia shot just 30.8% percent from the field, converting 20 of 65 shots; they connected on eight three-pointers, but Montreat knocked in seven of their 19 attempts to erase the Koala's effort from deep.

  • Both sides saw two starters eclipse double-figures; Anaya Muhhamad led the way for Columbia with 15 points, going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line, while Kamya Hatten notched 10 points in 22 minutes.

The Koalas will stay on the road and head to Reinhardt for a 2 PM tip-off on Saturday.
