KINGSPORT, TN- The Columbia College Women's Basketball team went on the road and entered the AAC Tournament first round in Kingsport, TN at the Marriott Center as the ninth seed against #8 Truett-McConnell, but could notfind their offense in falling 55-44 to end their season.
Truett McConnell outscored No. 9 seed Columbia just 14-13 in the first quarter but then took command of the game with a big secnod quarter en route to a 32-18 lead at the half. A 14-12 score in favor of Truett n the third put TMU up 46-30 heading to the fourth. Columbia tried to rally in the fourth quarter outscoring the Bears 14-9, but Truett McConnell kept them at bay in grabbing the 55-44 first round win.
Anaya Muhammad led the way with a team-high 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals and a block in 40 minutes. Lauren Wearbon added 8 points and 9 rebounds with 3 assists and a steal. De'Asia Feaster also finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds while forward Payton Brookover had 7 points and a season-best six blocks.
The Koalas finish the year with a 12-17 overall record and a 9-13 mark in conference play.
The 12 wins were the most for the program in a single season, besting the previous mark of 10 set by head coach JJ Green and the Koalas during his first season.
