Lady Koalas Ready to Avenge Previous Loss to Pikeville in Exciting AAC Basketball Clash
On Saturday, the Columbia College Lady Koalas will confront the challenge of hosting the University of Pikeville Lady Bears in a critical AAC basketball contest that sees two high-performing teams clash. The Koalas, sitting at an impressive 13-1 record this season and 7-1 in the conference, aim to exact some revenge on an opponent that bested them in their only previous encounter.
Last season, the Lady Bears triumphed against the Koalas at their home turf, sealing a 88-76 victory. This time, under the guidance of Head Coach JJ Green, the Koalas are eager to turn the tables and utilize their home court advantage. Key players like senior guard Keyshuna Fair, who is averaging 13.5 points and boasts a solid 35% shooting rate from the three-point line, and fellow guard Tysonia "Sunshine" Lowe, with an average of 12.5 points per game, are expected to lead the charge for the Koalas.
On the other side, the Lady Bears, guided by coach Clifton Williams, are not to be underestimated with a season record of 7-5 and 6-2 in conference. Their roster includes standouts like guard Allie Stone, scoring an average of 19 points per game, and forward Rachel Bush, contributing 15 points and 7.5 rebounds on average per game.
This matchup serves as the first game after the winter break for the Koalas, who convincingly won their last game against Paine with a score of 81-46. The Lady Bears, however, are coming off a recent loss to Campbellsville. The Koalas are fueled by a blend of determination to avenge their previous season's defeat and the fresh energy following the winter break. Tip off is at 2:00 PM from the Godbold Center and Porter Gymnasium.
