Lady Koalas Rout KCU to post 14th Win
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College Lady Koala basketball team rolled to an easy 94-58 victory at home over Kentucky Christian University on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Columbia improves to 14-5 overall and 7-5 in the AAC.
A close first quarter saw CC lead just 18-13 heading into the second period. The Koalas then found their stroke in quarter 2 as they posted 34 points en route to outscoring the Knights 34-17 to lead 52-30 at the break.
The third quarter then saw the Koalas hold KCU to just 10 points in outscoring them 18-10 to then lead 70-40 after three periods. Finally, in the fourth, CC put up 24 more points on their way to the 36-point win. Columbia shot 50 percent from the floor (38 of 76) while knocking down nine 3-pointers and outrebounding KCU 54-35.
CC was led by a season-high 20 points from junior wing Jadein Haynes along with her 6 rebounds and 2 assists while senior guard Keyshuna Fair posted 16 points. Also among the quintet of double-digit scorers was guards Layla Wall and Tysonia Lowe as they recorded 13 and 10 points respectively while combining for 8 rebounds and 13 assists. Lowe had 6 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal with Wall adding 6 assists.
Junior wing Makayla Street was the final member to score double digits with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior forward Tamyra Davis led the Koalas with nine rebounds along with her 5 points and 2 steals while fellow forward, Kamya Hatten had 8 points, 3 boards and 2 steals.
Columbia returns to action Wednesday as they remain home to host Truett-McConnell in a 5:30 pm conference matchup.
