Bio

Coach NaJarius “JJ” Green just completed his third season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Columbia College.

Green was honored with the WhoopDirt.com Coach of the Week Award in the NAIA in November of 2024 for helping get the Koalas off to their best start to a season in school history (9-1).

A native of Union, S.C., Green joined the Columbia College staff after spending two seasons as the top assistant with the women’s basketball team at fellow NAIA program Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC) in Spartanburg, SC.

While at SMC, Green helped lead the Pioneers to back-to-back Region-10 championships and two district championship appearances. Throughout his time at SMC the coaching staff put together a 31-13 record.

At SMC, Green was responsible for recruiting, assisting with on-court practices, and the team’s weight program. He was also instrumental in the development of six All-Region players and two Region-10 Player of the Year recipients, including Honorable Mention All-American JaMari Frederick.

In addition to his basketball duties at SMC, Green also served as Involvement and Activities Coordinator.

A three-sport athlete at Southern Wesleyan University, Green graduated from Southern Wesleyan University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation and Sport Management. He comes to Columbia with two important people in his life, his son Jihari and his fiance`Zakiyah.

Year-by-Year Highlights

2024-25: Led the Koalas to a historic season at 19-12, those 19 wins are the most wins in school history and is the first winning season in school history. Green was awarded the National NAIA Coach of the Week in December 2024 after a 13-1 start. Leading the Lady Koalas yet again to the AAC Conference tournament for the third straight season. Tysonia Lowe was selected 2nd team AAC All-Conference, Makayla Street was selected 1st team AAC All-Conference.

2023-24: Led the Koalas to 12-17 Record, those 12 wins are the most in a season in Columbia College Women’s Basketball History. Making back-to-back AAC Conference Tournament Appearances. Anaya Muhammed was selected to 2nd Team AAC All-Conference, Tysonia Lowe and Muhammed both earned AAC All-Conference Freshman Team selections.

2022-23: After taking over a team that went 4-22 during the 2021-22 season, Led the Koalas to a 10-18 Record, those 10 wins are the most in a season in Columbia College Women’s Basketball History. Columbia also Upset #25 Reinhardt (15-0 conf.) at the time, 67-61. Green led the Koalas to their first ever AAC Conference Tournament Appearance held in Kingsport, TN. Renasia Jeter-McKissick was selected to AAC All-Conference Freshman Team. Carnasia Wells and Aabreah Keitt both earned 2nd Team AAC All-Conference. Keitt also was selected to 1st Team AAC All-Conference Defensive Team.
