Koalas Clip Screaming Eagles On Road, Move to 1-0-1

TOCCOA FALLS, GA- Despite falling behind again early, the Columbia College Koalas were able to find a way to win a tough game on the road, 2-1, at Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday evening.

The Koalas opened the game well keeping possession but failed to create any real chances, and they were punished for their lack of a cutting edge by the Screaming Eagles with just under fourteen minutes on the clock.  A deflection fell kindly for a Toccoa midfielder, who fired a shot over the head of Teagan Eisenring for an early 1-0 advantage.

Once the Koalas recovered from the blow, they began to truly settle into the game and came close through Jordan Myers, Kathryn Mobley, and Madison Stewart.

With about thirty minutes gone in the half, Myers chased a loose ball in the box and was brought down by the TFC keeper, and she calmly dispatched the penalty to knot the score at 1-1.

Just six minutes into the second half, the Koalas added the goal they would need to secure the victory through super senior Madison Stewart. After receiving a pass from Brooke Piscitello, Stewart took a touch to steady herself before firing a left footed shot just inside the far post for her first goal of the season to make it 2-1.

While the Koalas piled on the pressure for the rest of the half, with Kimia Hughey and Mobley both creating really good chances, they were unable to add to the lead and had to settle for the final 2-1 scoreline.

Columbia has a much needed break to allow a few injuries to recover before opening their conference slate on September 9th on the road at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN.
