Koalas Beat Falcons in Non-Conference Action

COLUMBIA, SC- Senior Josie Vega scored her first career goal while Junior Jordan Myers netted a hat-trick in the Columbia College Koalas 5-0 non-conference win over the visiting Pfeiffer University Falcons on Thursday evening at Younts Stadium.

Despite having already hit the post and the bar in the opening minutes, it took until the 20th minute for the Koalas to open the scoring.  Myers found a streaking Madison Stewart down the right hand side of the field, and the super Senior's cross was turned in by Sophomore Alyssa Collins for her first goal as a Koala.

Six minutes later it was 2-0, as Myers scored her first goal of the game after intricate work from First Year Kinzly Cohen in midfield sent her through and she calmly finished past the Falcons keeper for her fifth goal of the year.

In the 31st minute, Myers made it 3-0, as newcomer Sophomore Kimia Hughey played a ball over the top that Myers raced onto, and she beat the keeper again to close out the first half scoring.

Myers turned provider in the 49th minute, as her cross found Vega and she slotted it past the keeper for her career first to make the score 4-0.

Myers completed her trio of goals in the 76th minute when Hughey again found her and Myers dribbled past the keeper before firing it home with her left foot to take her to seven goals on the season.

First Year Teagan Eisenring and Junior Breanna Hilton combined for the shutout in goal, while Kylie Stewart, Lakelee Aldrich, Kianna Dodge, Sammie McDaniel, and Kendyl Moore played well defensively to keep the Falcons at bay.

Overall, the Koalas outshot the Falcons 23-6 in the game with Myers leading the way with eleven.

Columbia return to action on Saturday when they travel to Waleska, GA to face off against AAC foe Reinhardt University at 4:15PM.
