Koalas Beat Buffs 4-2 at Home in AAC

COLUMBIA, SC- Junior Jordan Myers collected her second hat-trick of the season and Senior Lakelee Aldrich scored her first career goal as the Columbia College Koalas picked up a huge victory in the AAC with a 4-2 home win over the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes.

Columbia entered the game having yet to pick up a conference win after playing some of the tougher opponents in the conference, and knew they were in for another very tough matchup as they entertained Milligan.  After a fairly even first thirty minutes, the Koalas got on the board first when Madison Stewart found Myers, and she weaved her way through the Buffaloes defenders before finding the side netting for a 1-0 lead.

Milligan responded with a goal of their own just eight minutes later, and the Koalas and the Buffs would enter half time with the score knotted at 1-1.

Just over a minute into the second half it was 2-1 to Milligan, as a Koala own goal allowed them to temporarily take the lead.

Eight minutes would again be the time between goals, as this time Columbia would find the equalizer.  Lakelee Aldrich's free kick from forty yards out was a laser to the top corner as the senior scored the first goal of her career to make it 2-2.

Jordan Myers then scored what would turn out to be the game winning goal in the 80th minute after Kinzly Cohen was fouled in the box, and Myers stepped up to blast home the penalty kick for a 3-2 advantage.

She would round out her hat-trick just three minutes later, as Stewart flicked on a punt from Teagan Eisenring that found Myers clean through on goal and the junior finished confidently for her 40th career goal to move her into a tie for fourth all time on the Koalas goal scoring list.

The Koalas, as a unit, managed to close out the game and pick up their first AAC win on the season to move them onto four points in the conference standings.

Columbia returns to action on Wednesday, September 27th as they travel to new conference member Pikeville University for a 3:30PM kickoff.
