Koalas Drop Extended Match Against Johnson

KNOXVILLE, TN- In a very unique game, with each half played exactly a month apart, the Columbia College Koalas couldn't recover from a poor first half performance in their 2-1 defeat on the road at Johnson University.

The Koalas and Royals faced off on September 9th in the conference opener for both teams, with the Royals taking a 2-1 lead into half time. Johnson scored both goals within the first 21 minutes off of set pieces, before the Koalas replied just 25 seconds after it was 2-0.

Kendyl Moore received a pass from Madison Stewart on the right hand side of the field, and her square ball found Jordan Myers who turned and fired a shot over the arms of the JU keeper to cut the deficit in half.

At half time, inclement weather moved in and with no break in the lightning, the game had to be postponed until the two teams could find a date to continue.

After each playing another 7 conference games, the Royals and Koalas finally played the second half today in much better weather conditions.

Despite constant pressure throughout the half, with Myers going close and Alyssa Collins hitting the post, Columbia was unable to find the tying goal to drop their conference record to 3-4-1 and their overall record to 5-4-2.

The Koalas return to action on Wednesday at 7:15PM when they travel to conference high-flyers Montreat College.
