Koalas Put Knights to Sword in AAC Win

LAURINBURG, NC- Three different players contributed a goal while another two added assists as the Columbia College Koalas beat the St. Andrews Knights 3-1 on the road in AAC action on Tuesday afternoon.

Columbia got off to a flyer in the game as they opened the scoring within the first minute.  Josie Vega won the ball and found Jordan Myers on the left side, and her cutback found Madison Stewart for her second goal of the season after just 56 seconds.

Despite constant pressure for the rest of the half, resulting in a 12-2 shot advantage, the Koalas were unable to add to the scoreline and had goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring to thank for a big save just before halftime to enter the break up 1-0.

The second half then saw a flurry of action as a further three goals were added to the scoring column in just four minutes of play.

First, Kinzly Cohen dribbled across the box and found Kylie Stewart, whose cross picked out Kat Mobley and she controlled before firing home for her second goal of the year and her first game winning goal.

St. Andrews found a reply just under two minutes later, but the Koalas soon restored their two goal lead.

This time, Mobley found Madison Stewart after good defensive work by Kianna Dodge, and Stewart's pass to Kayann Glass allowed the senior to smash home from close range for her first goal of the season.

The second half shot count was 8-3, as the Koalas outshot the Knights 20-5 over the course of the entire game.

With the win, Columbia moves to 8-5-2 overall and 6-5-1 in the conference for a total of 19 points.  They return to action when they travel to Allen University for a non-conference matchup on Friday afternoon.
