One Goal Per Senior: Koalas Beat Rams 4-1 Celebrating Our Four Seniors

COLUMBIA, SC- The Columbia College Koalas Women's Soccer team scored two goals early and another two late as they celebrated senior day with a 4-1 home victory over the Bluefield University Rams.

With seeding for the conference tournament very much still up for grabs, Columbia knew a win was vital against Bluefield to help ensure the highest finish possible.

With that in mind, they got off to the perfect start as just over four minutes into the match Kylie Stewart scored her second goal of the season after great work down the right hand side from Kinzly Cohen

Less than four minutes later, it was 2-0, as Cohen got her second assist of the game with a through ball to Jordan Myers and the junior scored her first goal of the day with a calm finish.

Despite the early momentum swing, the Rams answered back with a goal of their own just two minutes later, and that score would stand until halftime as the teams entered the break with the Koalas 2-1 up on the Rams.

In spite of constant pressure, resulting in an overall game tally of 24 shots to 2 in favor of Columbia, the Koalas didn't manage to find the back of the net again until the 76th minute.  This time, Myers collected a cross from Kimia Hughey and her strike from the edge of the box had too much power for the Rams keeper as it crept over the line for a 3-1 advantage.

Myers then completed her hat-trick in the 88th minute as she dusted herself off after getting fouled for a penalty and confidently scored her fifth PK of the year to make the final score 4-1 to Columbia.

Of course, the highlight of the day was celebrating the four graduating seniors and commending them on the tremendous impact they have made on the program during their time at Columbia College.
