WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Columbia College women's soccer team rolled past Salem College in a 6-1 rout on Monday afternoon in Winston-Salem.
The Koalas picked up their second victory of the season, and first-ever against Div. III Salem, by virtue of a six-goal performance. Freshman forward Malia Kincaid opened scoring with a goal in the third and 11th minute of play, providing Columbia's offense with a 2-0 advantage. Her second goal was assisted by freshman Madison Dibert.
Sophomore Forward Kinzly Cohen then extended the Koalas' advantage to 3-0 just a minute later with a strike of her own. The margin reached four for Columbia in the 20th minute of play when senior defender Samantha McDaniel found the back of the net.
Kincaid then drove a shot off her foot in the 30th minute to record a hat trick with her third goal of the afternoon on an assist from senior MF Brooke Piscitello. The sixth and final goal of the contest for the Koalas came five minutes later by virtue of junior MF Kimia Hughey in the 35th minute as CC held a 17-2 shot advantage at the break.
Columbia College tallied 23 shots (16 shots on goal) and outshot the Spirits 23-11 overall on the afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Camryn McCutchen wrapped up the match with a team-high five saves, while fellow keeper Teagan Eisenring picked up the victory with one save.
Kincaid had four shots on goal, the most of any Koala, and tallied three goals to give her 4 goals and an assist on the season. Columbia next returns home to begin conference play Saturday at Noon against Johnson University.
