BEREA, KY - The Columbia College women's soccer team cruised to an easy 5-1 win over NCAA Div. III opponent, Berea College (Ky.) on Sunday afternoon to finish up their Kentucky road trip.
Senior forward Jordan Myers put the Koalas on the board early, as she scored in the 5th minute of action off an assist from freshman forward Malia Kincaid for her second goal of the season. Freshman Madison Dibert then made it 2-0 when she scored off an assist from Myers in the 32nd minute. Then, four minutes later, freshman forward Brooklynn Vigil scored off an assist from junior MF Kimia Hughey to stake the Koalas to a 3-0 lead. However, Berea would not quit and came right back just 30 seconds later with a goal of their own to cut Columbia's lead to two at 3-1 at intermission.
The Lady Koalas then added their 4th goal of the game in the 61st minute when senior forward Isabella Gurrieri got on the board off an assist from senior defender Sammie McDaniel. Columbia then finished off Berea scoring their 5th goal of the game three minutes later when Myers collected her second goal of the game off an assist from sophomore midfielder Kynzly Cohen.
Sophomore goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring picked up her second straight win as she made one save on two shots on goal while fellow keeper, freshman Camryn McCutchen also made one save during her second half action.
Columbia outshot the Mountaineers 10-4 in the first half and 15-2 in the second en route to the big win led by nine total shots and six on goal from Myers.
The Koalas improve to 5-6 overall while dropping Berea to 2-8.
