Koalas Captures Gold in 200-yard Medley Relay at WPU

Columbia College (SC) women's swim 200-yard medley relay captured Gold at the William Peace Invite last Sunday (Jan. 23).  In the dual meet, the Koalas fell 120-36 to host William Peace and fell to Pfeiffer by just two, 62-60. 

The relay team of Avy Vyn Watts, Elana Preston, Harmon, and Durflinger, won the race with a time of 2:11.76.

Individually, Columbia College finished with three top-three finishes. Jessie Durflinger paced the Koalas finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.88) and third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.54). Kayla Harmon placed third in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:16.20, over just under two seconds faster than her previous season-best.

Columbia College will head to the Point Invite this Saturday, Jan. 29.  After Saturday's meet, the Koalas will have one week to prepare for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships scheduled for February 10-12 at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
