Koala Swim Teams Place 3rd at Life Tri-Meet

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Columbia College men's and women's swim teams finished third in their tri-meet with Life and UT-Southern on Saturday, Sept. 30. The women finished with 25 points while UTS had 48 and the Lady Eagles of Life with 115. The Koala men finished with just 8 points.

The women's 200 yard Medley Relay team finished third in 2:10 led by the team of Isabelle Jensen, Giuliana Schiavon, Avy Ayn Watts, and senior Kayla Harmon. The men's medley team then finished 5th with a time of 2:03 led by the team of Jamal Johnson, Will Evans, Nick Topar, and Kell Evans.

In the women's 200 yard Freestyle, Jensen led the Ladies coming in third out of 5 with a time of 2:19 while Schiavon also placed third of four in the 200 IM in a time of 2:38. In the women's 100 Butterfly, Schiavon also finished third of 4 with a time of 1:12 while Watts was 4th in 1:25. Watts also placed 5th in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:29.

Harmon then placed 5th in the 100 Free in 1:10 while Jensen and Annabelle Lee placed 3rd and 4th in the 100 Backstroke. Jensen swam a time of 1:13 while Lee came across in 1:17. Harmon also finished 3rd of 5 in the 50 Free sprint in 29.8 seconds.

Finally the women's 200 Free Relay team of Harmon, Watts, Jensen, and Schiavon finished 3rd in 1:57, just a second behind runner-up UTS.

For the men, the Koalas were led by a nice finish from Will Evans as he placed 2nd of 7 in the 50 Free in 23.1 seconds while teammate Jamal Johnson was 6th in 30.2 seconds. Topar then led the men in the 200 IM finishing in a tie for 4th of 6 in 2:18 while he was then DQ'd in the 100 Fly where he was 5th before the ruling in 1:03.

Johnson then swam the 100 Free in 1:06 to place 5th while Will Evans then came in 3rd of 6 in the 100 Breast in 1:07.7, just missing 2nd by a second. The men's 200 Free Relay team then finished 5th in 1:56 with Will Evans swimming the fastest leg in 25.3.
