Mutiple Indoor Track and Field School Records Fall During Bast-Cregger Invitational
SALEM, VA- They say records are meant to be broken, and that's exactly what happened this weekend when the Columbia College Indoor Track and Field teams hit the road for the Bast-Cregger Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College.
Seven school records fell during the meet, four from the men's team and two from the women's side.
New Women's Indoor Records:
- Makayla Blango (Freshman, Anderson, SC / T.L. Hanna High School) Triple Jump: 10.45m
- Darci Dawson (Junior, Sumter, SC / West Florence High School) Weight Throw: 17.32m [6th ranked in the NAIA]
Along with breaking records, over 20 Koalas qualified for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Championship meet with their performance over the weekend.
Women's Qualifiers:
- 60m: Latrice Brown (FR) (8.02), Kwamecia Marks (FR) (8.14), Ashante Shaw (FR) (8.16), and Myikayla Howard (FR) (8.22)
- 200m: Ashante Shaw (FR) (26.37 sec), Latrice Brown (FR) (26.57 sec), Myikayla Howard (FR) (26.74), and Kwamecia Marks (FR) (27.03)
- 400m: Kayla Ferrel (FR) (1:05.34)
- Mile: Addison Martin (FR) (5:43.24)
- 60m Hurdles: Mackenzie Pringle (FR) (9.31)
- Long Jump: Mackenzie Pringle (FR) (5.15m) and Makayla Blango (FR) (4.88m)
- Triple Jump: Makayla Blango (FR) (10.45)
- Shot Put: Darci Dawson (JR) (11.79m), Anaya Canty (JR) (11.48m), Autumn Buzzard (FR) (11.22m), Qu'Sondra Widerman (FR) (10.97m), Doreshia McAllister (FR) (10.78m), Azia Holmes (FR) (10.75m, and Madison Richardson (FR) (9.71m)
- Weight Throw: Darci Dawson (JR) (17.32m), Anaya Canty (JR) (14.62m), Doreshia McAllister (FR) (14.36m), Malaysia Herring (FR) (11.82m), and Justina Renke (FR) (11.19m)
