Mutiple Indoor Track and Field School Records Fall During Bast-Cregger Invitational

SALEM, VA- They say records are meant to be broken, and that's exactly what happened this weekend when the Columbia College Indoor Track and Field teams hit the road for the Bast-Cregger Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College.

Seven school records fell during the meet, four from the men's team and two from the women's side.

New Women's Indoor Records:

  • Makayla Blango (Freshman, Anderson, SC / T.L. Hanna High School) Triple Jump: 10.45m
  • Darci Dawson (Junior, Sumter, SC / West Florence High School) Weight Throw: 17.32m [6th ranked in the NAIA]

Along with breaking records, over 20 Koalas qualified for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Championship meet with their performance over the weekend.

Women's Qualifiers:

"I cannot express how proud I am of the team's effort and growth from last season to this season. The broken records and amount of qualifiers are a testament to their hard work and dedication. Our athletes have exceeded expectations, and I am excited to see what they accomplish in the future." - Head Track and Field Coach Eric N'Dri.
