Pringle Named Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

Kennesaw, Ga. - Freshman Mackenzie Pringle of Columbia is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the fourth edition of the weekly honors for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on April 8. This is Pringle's first weekly award this season.

AAC Track Athlete of the Week

Mackenzie Pringle - Columbia College- Freshman - Columbia, S.C.

    • Collected an NAIA 'A' Standard in the 100 hurdles at the KSU Invite Friday in Kennesaw, Georgia to qualify for the NAIA Nationals in May with the fourth best time in the NAIA
    • Placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.35 seconds to set a new personal record 
    • Pringle also competed in the Long Jump and placed 14th overall out of 22 with a mark of 4.8 meters (15 feet)
    • Pringle then placed 2nd overall in the Triple Jump Friday afternoon with a mark of 11.76 meters (38 feet)

    In the sprints at the KSU Invite, Other than Pringle, Columbia was led by freshman Asante Shaw placing 11th of 30 in the 100 meters with a new personal record of 12.47 seconds while fellow freshman Mykayla Howard was 13th in 12.57 seconds. Then, in the 200 meters, Shaw again placed 14th of 45 with a time of 25.5 seconds.

    In the distance races, Carly Fuel led Columbia with a 10th place finish in the 5000 meters running a time of 21:20.

    Women Field Events

    Grad Senior Zaida Carson also competed as an individual for the Lady Koalas in the field events placing 5th in the Discus, 8th in the Shot Put and 26th in the Hammer throw. Carson threw the Discus 38.7 meters (126 feet) to place 5th out of 30 competitors. Also placing in the top 20 in Discus for the Koalas was junior Darci Dawson in 12th at 35 meters, senior Anaya Canty in 17th at 30.9 meters, and Qusondra Wideman in 20th at 30.1 meters.

    Carson's 8th place showing in the Shot Put out of 30 saw her throw a mark of 11.1 meters while Wideman was 12th at 10.6 M. Freshman Azia Holmes threw it 10.34 and Canty was at 10 meters.

    Freshman Doreshia McAllister led the Koalas in the Hammer throw placing 13th out of 34 with a throw of 39.9 meters (131 ft) with Canty right behind in 18th at 38 meters. Dawson also placed 24th at 35.3 meters.

    In the Javelin Throw, Columbia was led by freshman Justina Renke placing 7th of 17 with a personal record mark of 28.1 meters (92 feet). Holmes also competed and placed 10th at 24.7 meters while freshman Jada Robinson was 12th at 22.4 meters.
