Pringle's 100m Hurdle Title Leads Women's Track & Field at Emory in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Columbia College women's track and field team competed at the Div. III Emory Thrills in the Hills Individual Meet over the weekend at Emory University in Atlanta.

2025 Indoor All-American, sophomore Mackenzie Pringle led the Lady Koalas as she placed 2nd in the 100m Hurdles on Saturday in a time of 14.67 seconds to qualify for the finals. Freshman teammate Z. Henderson also finished 11th in 16.6 seconds, missing the final qualification by less than a second. Pringle then went on to win the 100m Hurdles later Saturday running a time of 14.49 seconds.

The 4x100m Relay team then finished an impressive 4th out of 15 teams with a time of 47.9 seconds with the team of Mykayla Howard, Ziykila Henderson, Ashante Shaw, and Kwamecia Marks. The Koalas were the top-scoring NAIA school in the field beating out six other NAIA teams. The Koalas were only one second behind the top team from Emory.

During the 100m Qualifications on Saturday, the ladies were led by sophomore conference champ Latrice Brown as she finished 6th out of 50 in 12.56 seconds while Faith Eugene and K. Marks were 19th and 20th in 13 seconds. J. Gilliam also ran and was 39th in 13.5 seconds.

Then, in the 100m prelims, M. Howard finished 15th out of 24 in 12.48 seconds while A. Shaw was 21st in 12.8 seconds.

In the women's 200-meter finals on Friday, CC was led by conference champ, sophomore Latrice Brown placing 15th out of 80 in a time of 25.6 seconds while a trio of Lady Koalas followed coming in 25th, 29th, and 33rd overall. Sophomore Mykayla Howard was 25th in a tad over 26 seconds while felloe sophomore Ashante Shaw was 29th in 26.37 sec. Freshman Tylashia Alston was then 33rd in 26.5 seconds. Sophomore Kwamecia Marks also competed in the 200 and placed 58th in 27.38 seconds while freshman Jordyn Gilliam was 71st in 28.9 seconds.

In the field events on Friday, the Koalas were led by sophomore Qu'Sondra Wideman in the Discus as she placed 9th overall with a mark of 34.3 meters. She was followed by fellow sophomore Doreshia McAllister coming in 19th place with a throw of 27.4 meters. Then, in the Hammer Throw, the ladies were led by senior Darci Dawson who placed 8th out of 32 (4th in NAIA) with a throw of 42.9 meters (140 ft) while McAllister was right behind in 10th place at 41.17 meters. Sophomore Azia Holmes and freshman Kezia Jones also competed placing 29th and 30th at 28.5m and 27.1m respectively.

Then, to close out the Friday field events, sophomore Makayla Blango finished 6th in the Triple Jump out of 25 with a mark of 11.4 m (37.5 ft). Holmes then led the Javelin throw on Saturday placing 12th of 21 with a throw of 24.77 meters (81 ft) while freshman Amelia Nifong was 21st at 15.4 meters.

Blango and Indoor All-American Mackenzie Pringle then competed in the Long Jump with Pringle placing 6th out of 42 (3rd in NAIA) with a mark of 5.2 meters (17 ft) while Blango was 16th at 4.97 meters. Finally, to close out the women's field events, CC had three compete in the Shot Put led by Holmes placing 18th of 34 with a throw of 10.43 meters (34 ft) while Wideman and K. Jones were 30th and 31st with marks of 9.25 meters and 8.66m.

In the Distance events on Friday, sophomore Juliana Gonzalez led the Koalas by placing 4th of 20 in the 5K in a time of 20 minutes while junior Jennyfer Vigueras was 20th in 21:57. Freshman Avarose Buccino then finished 7th in the 3000m Steeple in a time of 13:54 in a field that included Div. I, II, and III athletes. Then, in the 1500 meters, Gonzalez again led the team placing 15th overall out of 41 (2nd in NAIA) with a time of 5:13.2 while Buccino was 29th in 5:35.5 and Vigueras 34th in 5:52.

In the 800 meters on Saturday, Gonzalez again led the Distance team placing 37th of 50 (8th in NAIA) in 2:37.4 while Buccino was 42nd in 2:46. In the 400 meters Saturday, freshman Faith Eugene led the team placing 27th of 40 (9th among NAIA) in a time of 1 minute, 3.9 seconds.

Columbia will next head to High Point, NC to compete in the VertKlasse Meeting on Friday and Saturday of this week.
