Volleyball Starts Strong with Road Win in Georgia

AUGUSTA, GA- After their match on Tuesday was canceled, Columbia College Volleyball opened the 2023 season with a win on Thursday night, taking 3-of-4 sets against Paine College; 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18.

Freshman setter Debra Shephard, a name to watch in the preseason, shined in her first collegiate appearance, recording a team and match-high 18 assists; she also posted ten digs.

Destiny Brown was the benefactor of Shephard's performance as she led the Koalas with ten kills on 21 attempts, a .381 K%. Gracie Hicklin was the next-highest scorer with seven kills, while Kasey Brough and Hali Doctor added six.

The Koalas return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Brewton-Parker for a 6 PM start.
