
Koala Volleyball Suffers tough loss at Reinhardt
WALESKA, Ga. - The Columbia College volleyball team played well in their 3-0 loss to AAC foe Reinhardt University on the road in North Georgia Friday evening.
The Koalas battled the unbeaten Eagles hard in the first set tallying 11 kills to RU's 14 but falling 25-20. RU then stepped up their game in the second set rolling to the 25-12 win on 17 kills before closing out CC in the third 25-15 on 14 kills to Columbia's seven.
Senior OH Jada Gentry led the Koalas with 8 kills hitting .190 and four digs while fellow right side hitter, freshman Tamia Fripp recorded 3 kills and 3 blocks. Sophomore Setter Debra Shephard picked up 18 assists and 7 digs with 3 kills while freshman libero Katie Roberts led the squad with 16 digs. Senior DS Amanda also made four aces with 4 digs and 2 assists.
Senior middle hitters Destiny Brown and Mikayla Stout also combined for 7 kills and 3 blocks.
Columbia falls to 2-13 overall and 1-8 in conference while Reinhardt improves to 12-4 and remains undefeated in the AAC at 9-0.
The Koalas will be right back in action on Saturday when they continue their Georgia road trip to face Truett-McConnell and Life University (Ga.) in a tri-match beginning at 11 am.
