Hollifield Runs Collegiate Best at USC Upstate Invite

Spartanburg, SC (Oct. 16) – Columbia College (SC) junior Makayla Hollifield clocked a 19:58.7 last Saturday (Oct. 16) to lead the Koalas at the USC Upstate Invite. The Columbia College women's team finished 16th overall.

Hollifield has been one of the most consistent runners during the season. The 19:58.7 is the fastest for the junior in the 5k in her career as a Koala. Izabelle "Trefts ran a 20:52.1, and Alanie Foster clocked a 21:09.3 to round out the top three finishers for the Columbia College women. Gabrielle Huggins and Esther Ekundayo rounded out the top five finishers with times of 21:11.1 and 21:38.7, respectively.

Additional runners for the Koalas included: Elana Preston (22:37.4), Ayanah Howard (24:43.1), and Shelby Winn (24:52.4).

For the Columbia College men, Patrick Timmerman finished the 8K course in a time of 29:25.7 to lead the Koala Trio. Robert Robbins ran a 32:45.5 and Austin Bonds finished in a time of 39:14.8 for the Columbia College men, who are winding down its Inaugural season. 

Both teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Bob Jones Invitational.
